The field of Criminology is a four - year degree program in the Philippines that study crime and the various agencies of justice as they operate and react to crime, criminals and victims. Graduates of this course can deliver effcient and effective services in crime prevention, crime detection and investigation, law enforcement and custody and rehabilitation of offenders, among others. Moreover, they will acquire knowledge and skills in addressing the problem of criminality in the country and the competence to meet the challenge of globalization in the field of criminology.

The Bachelor of Science in Criminology program is designed to provide students with knowledge and skills in the study of crime, causes and the processes involved in solving crimes and the function of the criminal justice system in the country. The students have to undergo internship/on- the-job training and community immersion for one semester during their fourth or senior year in the program.

A Criminologist is deemed to be engaged in the practice of Criminology if he holds himself out to the public in any of the following capacities:

  • As a professor, instructor or teacher in Criminology in any university, college or school duly recognized by the government and teaches any of the following subjects: (a) Law Enforcement Administration, (b) Criminalistics, (c) Correctional Administration, (d) Criminal Sociology and allied subjects, and (e) other technical and specialized subjects in the Criminology curriculum provided by the Department of Education.
  • As law enforcement administrator, executive, adviser, consultant or agent in any government or private agency, like PNP, BFP, BJMP, PDEA, NBI and other law enforcement agencies.
  • As technician in dactyloscopy, ballistics, questioned documents, police photography, lie detection, forensic chemistry and other scientific aspects of crime detection.
  • As correctional administrator, executive supervisor, worker or officer in any correctional and penal institution.
  • As counselor, expert, adviser, researcher in any government or private agency on any aspects of criminal research or project involving the causes of crime, juvenile delinquency, treatment of offenders, police operations, law enforcement administration, scientific criminal investigation or public welfare administration.
  • Parole and probation officers in the Parole and Probation Administration.
  • As Bank security officers and Bank Signature Verifier.
  • Security and Safety officers and Consultant.

STUDENT ACTIVITIES - National and Regional Criminology students' congress conducted annually. An avenue to promote camaraderie, unity and friendship among criminology students in the country and develop, enhance and advance academic capabilities of the criminology students.

Admission Requirements for First Year

A graduate of any secondary or a transferee from other colleges/universities may be granted admission to the program provided he/she presents valid credentials and meets the admission requirements of the College of Criminology. All enrollees must pass the Admission (ACP) Test as the first step in the whole enrolment process.
